Charlie Puth became emotional when he saw Taylor Swift; "I just cried"

Charlie Puth was overcome with emotion when he saw that Taylor Swift had referenced him in her most recent album, “The Tortured Poets Department.”

Before the album’s official release on April 19, Puth, 32, told Rolling Stone that he received a call from a buddy who had heard of an album leak.

At first, he believed it could be an artificial intelligence joke.

Puth was shocked to learn that the shout-out on the album’s title track was genuine. “Wow,” he remembered thinking. After saying my name, she said, “And I just cried, dude.”

Swift says, “You smoked then ate seven bars of chocolate / We declared Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist” in one of the songs.

After releasing the music video for “Hero,” Puth publicly praised Swift for encouraging him. On Instagram, he said Swift’s encouragement made him realize he had to delete the song from his hard drive.

Puth told Rolling Stone that Swift’s remark gave him the bravery to release new songs, and he attributes this confidence to her.
