I had to perform a Punjabi song for the first time tonight in Mumbai with Diljit Dosanjh. Sheeran said in the caption of his photo, “I’ve had the best time in India, and there’s more to come.”

Actor and singer Diljit, 40, is one of the most well-known South Asian performers globally and is largely responsible for the international recognition of Punjabi music. In 2023, he created history by being the first performer from Punjab to play Coachella.

Sheeran went from self-releasing his EPs and performing little bars in London to being one of the best-selling composers in modern pop music over the course of the last 15 years. He is currently halfway through his massive, two-and-a-half-year worldwide tour of mathematics.

Dosanjh received acclaim from admirers and Indian celebrities on social media for persuading Sheeran to sing in an Indian dialect. A surprised concertgoer remarked of the incredible evening, “I am still processing what just happened here, I am never going to forget this night.”

Actor Varun Dhawan from Bollywood described it as “global domination” in a remark on Dosanjh’s Instagram post. Comedian Sahil Bulla said, “I was standing in the audience shrieking like a fan girl,” in the meantime. Nobody anticipated the multiverse event that occurred.
