Sonam Kapoor Announces Post-Motherhood Comeback After Two-Year Break
Bollywood star Sonam Kapoor, 40, is all set to return to the silver screen after a hiatus following the birth of her son, Vayu, in August 2022. The actor, who married businessman Anand Ahuja in 2018, shared details of her post-motherhood plans in a recent interview, revealing that her new project is slated to start filming in the final quarter of this year.
“I became a mother and wanted to give it as much time as possible, so that I could witness the process of seeing my son grow up. I wanted to enjoy the feeling of being a mother, and it has been the most rewarding experience of my life,” Kapoor said. She added, “Now, I will be back to doing what I love doing… acting.”
The ‘Neerja’ actor also spoke about her approach to choosing roles, saying, “I’m being drawn to disruptive subjects that allow me to shine. I have always tried to pick projects with the girl at the heart of the story, and that vision hasn’t changed. I want to do projects where the role of the woman is layered and not unidimensional.”
Kapoor confirmed that her comeback project will begin rolling out in the last quarter of 2025, though she did not disclose the film’s title or director.
