Filmmaker Celine Song, well known for the critically acclaimed picture “Past Lives,” was spotted filming “Materialists,” her upcoming project, with a cast that included Chris Evans, Dakota Johnson, Pedro Pascal, and other celebrities.
The cast of “Past Lives,” which is produced by A24, was sighted filming in NYC today. A24 signed on to produce this movie last autumn.
Producer Christine Vachon and Song hinted at the film’s originality in a recent interview with GQ, saying, “It feels like she makes a different movie every time, that she’s going to be the kind of filmmaker who doesn’t make the same movie twice.” Song and Vachon haven’t revealed many details about “Materialists.”
As a romantic comedy, “Materialists” is said to be influenced by James L. Brooks’s ’80s productions.
Set in New York City, which is renowned for its colorful and dynamic relationships, the movie centers on Lucy, a matchmaker in high demand whose services are paid for.
But issues crop up, creating a poisonous love triangle that puts everyone’s life in jeopardy.
