Wishes come true as Hasan Raheem drops track ft Talwiinder

Pakistani musician Hasan Raheem has debuted the official music video for his joint album Wishes, which features Indian vocalist Talwiinder and was produced by Umair. This is his latest artistic endeavor. September 2 saw the original release of the song along with a lyric video, which was included in Raheem’s five-track EP Maybe, It’s Love.

In this moving song, Raheem recalls a past romance and fits in perfectly with the modern indie pop and R&B scenes. Wishes evokes the common regrets that follow a breakup with lyrics that reflect on both happy times and mistakes done. It’s an honest self-introspection.

The music video, which has an injured Raheem swinging from a tree while wearing parachute gear, gestures at this transitional period between grief and slow acceptance. The absence of motion is juxtaposed with superimposed memories of him riding a motorcycle, which are sporadically broken up by flashes of blue and red that indicate approaching traffic accidents. The 4:3 aspect ratio, monochromatic flashbacks emphasize the shift between timelines.

In an intriguing move, the superimposition takes the place of crosscutting to allude to his emotional instability as well as the unsettling bike incident. Will Raheem ever be able to break free from the guilt vortex? The tree appears to be in an otherworldly state of limbo because of its lonesome, unsettling contrast to the darkness that permeates the rest of the video. There’s no response in the song video.

To the joy of the fans, Talwiinder has plenty of screen time while wearing a demonic face paint that makes her appear to be Raheem’s personal nighttime demon. The Indian singer is the redeeming factor for an otherwise uninteresting song for a lot of social media users. One post said, “Talwiinder definitely overshadowed him,” while another stated bluntly, “This song would’ve been a flop without Talwiinder.”

Some, nevertheless, are still utterly delighted about this international cooperation. The emphasis of one X user was “the love that I have for this song.” One admirer highlighted the song’s repeat value by asking, “Will I ever grow bored of this song? Will I ever move on from this partnership? No. For serious ones like myself, [this is] bigger than the GTA VI trailer, said another X user.
