Sophia Hutchins Dies in Tragic ATV Crash Near Malibu at Age 29
Sophia Hutchins, longtime friend and manager of retired Olympic gold-medalist Caitlyn Jenner, has died at the age of 29, according to multiple reports citing the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health.
Hutchins, who appeared alongside Jenner in the documentary series I Am Cait and made guest appearances on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, succumbed to multiple blunt-force injuries to her face following a fatal ATV accident on July 2.
Authorities confirmed that Hutchins was pronounced dead at the scene after her all-terrain vehicle collided with the bumper of a moving car near Jenner’s Malibu home. The impact sent her ATV plunging into a 350-foot ravine. The two passengers in the car survived unharmed.
“It looks like she may have been speeding and rear-ended the other car, the other party, and then that caused her to veer to the right and go off the cliff,” Sergeant Eduardo Saucedo told a foreign outlet.
Hutchins, who was also the founder and CEO of sunscreen company LUMASOL, met Jenner in 2015 following Jenner’s announcement of her gender transition. The two shared a close bond both professionally and personally, for nearly a decade.
Hutchins will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Los Angeles on July 24.
