A Portugal colleague asserts that Cristiano Ronaldo is well "past his prime"

As the European Championships 2024 draw near, Portugal’s João Cancelo believes that his countrymate Cristiano Ronaldo is past his prime and that the squad does not “rely entirely on him.”

Cancelo praised Ronaldo value to the national team, but he feels that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is well past his peak, according to Sportskeeda.

According to Cancelo, the majority of football players peak between the ages of 25 and 32.

Cancelo stated: “A football player reaches their peak in their career between the ages of 25 and 32, but he is an important player who competed with Messi for the Ballon d’Or for 15 years.”

“He is an important player for us, but the national team does not entirely depend on him.”

Ronaldo, 39, has scored 128 goals for his country in 205 games. He was left out of Portugal’s squad for their international friendly against Sweden on Thursday.

In 33 games, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid player has scored 30 goals for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia.

The athlete has reportedly not been benched from the squad and will instead take a break during the match.
