Former Director of Cricket for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohammad Hafeez, has resigned from his position.
Hafeez’s wish to talk with Mohsin Naqvi, the recently appointed PCB Chairman, about the results of the recent cricket trips to Australia and New Zealand, seems to have been one of the catalysts for the decision. There have been rumors that the PCB would not want to deal with Hafeez going forward because Naqvi reportedly refused to grant his request for a meeting.
November of the previous year saw Hafeez, a former Test captain who is well-known for his contributions to Pakistani cricket, take over as Director of Cricket. Hafeez has accumulated an outstanding record in his cricket career, playing in many matches for Pakistan and winning a lot of them.
However, rumors indicate that during the most recent tour of New Zealand, there were conflicts between Hafeez and more experienced players. It is purported that the players voiced their displeasure with Hafeez’s lengthy sessions and his strict squad management style.
Concerns were also expressed about the way No Objection Certificates (NOCs) were issued to cricket players who wanted to play in other leagues. It is alleged that Hafeez was reluctant to provide players who wanted to play in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) their NOCs, which left them unclear about what their contractual commitments were.
The combination of these elements has raised concerns about how Hafeez and the players’ relationship would further deteriorate in the event that remedial action is not taken. The circumstance emphasizes how crucial it is for cricket administrators to collaborate and communicate well in order to create a peaceful atmosphere that supports Pakistani cricket’s growth and success.
