In advance of the Pakistan-Ireland T20I series, Muhammad Amir 'granted visa'

After obtaining a visa, left-arm fast bowler Muhammad Amir is scheduled to leave for Dublin ahead of the three-match Twenty20 International Series between Pakistan and Ireland, which starts on May 10, according to sources cited.

The event occurred when Amir’s visa was postponed, preventing him from traveling to Ireland on Tuesday with the Pakistani team.

According to sources, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi moved quickly to make sure Amir received permission to visit Ireland.

Regarding Amir’s visa status, the PCB communicated with Cricket Ireland in a proactive manner. Following the Kakul camp, all players, including Amir, had their visa applications processed right away; nevertheless, when Amir’s visa was denied, fear took over PCB headquarters.

In 2010, Amir, Mohammad Asif, and Salman Butt were all barred from playing cricket internationally for five years by the International Cricket Council (ICC) due to allegations of spot-fixing.

Additionally, Amir completed half of a six-month jail sentence in Feltham and Dorset’s young offenders institutes.

The 31-year-old, who made his comeback in 2016, assisted Pakistan in winning the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy, as the Men in Green outwitted India, their bitter rivals, by 180 runs in the championship match.

Amir is renowned for his amazing performance in the championship game, where he eliminated India’s best bowling combination, including skipper Virat Kohli, opener Rohit Sharma, and opener Shikhar Dhawan.

But in December 2020, the left-arm bowler declared his retirement from international cricket at the age of 28, claiming he was being “tortured mentally” and that he could no longer play for the management.

However, Amir announced his retirement prior to the most recent series with New Zealand and was included to the team.

The Pakistani side will play four Twenty20 Internationals in England after three in Ireland. Pakistan will travel to the United States to play in the T20 World Cup following the England series.
