Virat Kohli will be left out of India's squad for the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup

Virat Kohli may decide not to travel with India to the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024. This competition is scheduled to begin on June 1 in the USA and the West Indies.

Kohli didn’t play T20I cricket for more than a year following India’s heartbreaking semifinal loss to England in the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Despite playing in a series against Afghanistan earlier this year, Kohli did not have a very good showing in the T20 format. In the two matches that he participated in, Kohli didn’t play up to par, but his colleague Rohit Sharma performed admirably in every game.

Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has stated that Sharma would captain the team in 2024. Kohli’s position in the squad is still up in the air, though.

Ajit Agarkar selection committee is debating whether to include Kohli in the starting lineup. They think that at 35 years old, Kohli could no longer possess the abilities required for the T20 format. The selection committee wants to take a risk because India hasn’t won an ICC event since 2013. Kohli may be impacted by this decision.
