Overtaking Tesla, BYD, a Chinese automaker, is now the world’s top seller of electric cars. They were able to do this by providing a wide range of electric car models at competitive pricing, as well as having a dependable battery and charging infrastructure in China. They are now entering the market for extremely expensive cars.
Three models are unveiled under their new ultra-luxury brand, Yangwang: the U8 off-road vehicle, the U9 supercar, and the U7 luxury sedan. In China, the U9 costs roughly CNY 1,680,000, or RM 1.1 million. With a top speed of 309 km/h, the U9 exhibits remarkable acceleration, taking just 2.36 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h. This speed is faster than many popular sports cars, like Bugatti and Ferrari.
With four motors—one for each wheel—the U9 can produce 1,680 Nm of torque and 1,306 PS of total power. It charges quickly—from 30% to 80% in just 10 minutes—and has a maximum range of 465 kilometers on a single charge. The U9 also has a special suspension system that lets it leap, dance, and even drive on three wheels.
The U9 has a striking design with dynamic lines, butterfly doors, and unique headlights and taillights. It is equipped with high-performance tires and brakes and travels on spacious 21-inch wheels. Luxurious central console, digital instrument cluster, huge touchscreen display, ambient lighting, high-end sound system, and extremely comfortable plush seating are all featured inside the cabin.
