According to a statement from the Defense Ministry, India successfully tested a cruise missile using domestic technology on Thursday.
According to the ministry, India’s Defence Research and Development Organization successfully tested an indigenous technology cruise missile off the coast of Odisha state from the Chandipur Integrated Test Range.
“All of the subsystems operated as expected throughout the test… The Indian Air Force’s Su-30-Mk-I aircraft also kept an eye on the missile’s flight, according to the statement.
It further stated that the missile conducted a very low altitude sea-skimming flight and used way point navigation to follow the intended course.
The ministry further stated, “This successful flight test has established the reliable performance of the indigenous propulsion system.”
The “major milestone” for Indian defense research and development, according to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, was the creation of a “indigenous long-range subsonic cruise missile powered by indigenous propulsion.”
