WhatsApp enhances 'Communities' with a new feature that makes event planning simple

According to The Verge, WhatsApp, owned by Meta, has unveiled a new feature that attempts to make it easier for groups to plan both virtual and in-person events.

Members of a group may schedule meetings, parties, and other events using the new “Events” function, which works similarly to e-vite providers that send out email invites.

Members may check who is coming to the event, who isn’t, and who is bringing refreshments by using this feature, which is linked to the group’s information page and has its own chat thread.

The Verge also mentioned that in order to allow users to leave comments and criticism, the messaging app now allows users to react to “Announcement Groups”.

In order to allow users to view the discussion and participate without disturbing other users with continuous alerts, it also mutes the chat and minimizes replies.

In the upcoming months, the new functionality will make its debut on WhatsApp Communities before expanding to all groups.

With its own chat threads, group administrators, and announcement features, WhatsApp Communities is a tool that mimics Slack or Discord and makes use of the 32-person video calling functionality.
