Due to the new WhatsApp Privacy Policy, many users lost trust and started shifting from WhatsApp to Telegram. In this massive success, Telegram decided to allow a vital feature to gain more users. As a result, the instant messaging app has allowed users the option to now import their WhatsApp chats.
Chats history from apps other than WhatsApp can also be imported, according to webatinfo.com.
Steps to import chats to Telegram
- Open WhatsApp on your iPhone.
- Head over to the chat that you would like to transfer.
- Tap on the contact info and then select the ‘Export Chat’ option. Here, one can also choose whether they would like to include media files or not.
- Select Telegram from the iOS sharing screen.
- Just select the contact to which you would like to assign the chat and then tap on import.
All messages that you import from WhatsApp or other apps will be marked in Telegram as “Imported”. Previously, they were marked as “Forwarded”.
This feature, however, has so far only been offered to iPhone users and is available on the App Store. However, an update for Android is soon expected as well, according to webatinfo.com.
In addition, in order to do this, you will have to be on the latest version of both WhatsApp and Telegram. One can check this by heading over to the Apple App Store. Also, as mentioned above, the chats will be imported individually and the users will not get the option to select multiple chats.
