The court was informed about Nawaz’s statement in the Toshakhana case

Nawaz has recorded his statement in the 2019 Toshakhana cas

The prosecutor notified an accountability court on Thursday that Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N), has recorded his statement in the 2019 Toshakhana case filed against him.

Yousuf Raza Gilani, the former prime minister, and Asif Ali Zardari, the former president, are also parties to the case. The claims that the people obtained opulent cars from the Toshakhana (gifts depository) are at the heart of the controversy.

Important participants in today’s hearings, which were overseen by Judge Muhammad Bashir, included Qazi Misbah, the attorney for Nawaz Sharif, Arshad Tabriz, Irfan Bhola, the NAB prosecutor, and Sohail Arif. Nawaz Sharif’s other attorney, Rana Irfan, was also present at the hearing.

The former prime minister filed his response, the prosecution informed the court. He indicated that more investigation will now be conducted, which will take some time.

The defense attorney told the judge that although a questionnaire was created in 2019, Nawaz’s poor health prevented it from being given to him. Nonetheless, he claimed that pertinent responses to the queries posed had now been given.

He continued by saying that there is no proof in the reference file that the vehicle that was reported as having been returned has ever been registered, nor is there any evidence that the leader of the PML-N made a request for a car.

In light of the issues raised, the court asked NAB what its plan of action was. In response, the prosecutor said that all further actions would be taken only after a careful review of the statement.

The Toshakhana case hearing was postponed by the court, with a new date of December 20.
