During his visit to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) headquarters, Dr. Umar Saif, the Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, highlighted the government’s commitment to improving the telecom sector in Pakistan. In an effort to give passengers more connectivity, he said that national roaming would henceforth be available on national highways and motorways.
The minister recognized that the PTA’s provision of cutting-edge broadband, ICT, and telecom services has played a critical role in promoting the expansion of the telecom sector. In order to obtain knowledge of the operations and goals of the regulator, he spoke with prominent officials, such as Member Compliance & Enforcement PTA Dr. Khawar Sidique Khokhar and Chairman PTA Maj-Gen (r) Hafeezur Rehman.
Dr. Umar Saif addressed the issues facing the industry and emphasized the need for quick resolution of customer concerns pertaining to telecom providers. In the hopes of facilitating the resolution of disputes more quickly, he suggested creating a system to enhance the PTA’s role in advancing social and public welfare projects.
The minister expressed the need for digital connectivity and emphasized the need of making digital services available to the general population, highlighting the role that technology plays in enabling connections to the digital world.
Dr. Umar Saif emphasized the significance of investment-friendly policies and enabling regulatory frameworks, assuring PTA of the full support of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) for its regulatory endeavors. He visited the National Telecom Security Operations Center (NTSOC) to learn more about how it runs and commended the PTA for its efforts to improve the telecom industry.
The government’s dedication to developing Pakistan’s telecom industry through regulatory actions, resolving issues, and encouraging investment-friendly policies was highlighted by Dr. Umar Saif’s visit. The government’s commitment to improving connectivity and addressing problems in the quickly changing digital world is demonstrated by the expansion of national roaming services and the planned creation of a Telecommunication Tribunal.
