Trump Says India Will Face Penalty Over Trade and Russia Ties

Washington – Former U.S. President Donald Trump has said that India will face a penalty on August 1, but he did not explain what the penalty would be or how much.

In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote, “India is our friend, but they charge very high tariffs, some of the highest in the world. They also have very strict trade rules that make it hard for the U.S. to do business with them.”

He also said that India continues to buy most of its military equipment from Russia and is one of Russia’s biggest energy customers, along with China. Trump added that this is not a good thing, especially when many countries want Russia to stop the war in Ukraine.

India’s commerce ministry, which handles trade talks with the U.S., has not yet commented.
