Naik Atif, Sepoy Qayyum embrace martyrdom; wreath laid at Kargil War hero’s mausoleum.

Two soldiers of the Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom on the eve of the country’s 75th Independence Day during an exchange of fire with terrorists in Khost district, near Harnai, Balochistan.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), terrorists fire raided a security forces post in Khost. “During an effort to stop fleeing terrorists, a heavy exchange of fire took place between terrorists and a security forces patrol,” the ISPR said.
During the skirmish, Naik Atif and Sepoy Qayyum embraced martyrdom while Major Umer was injured.
The military’s media wing maintained that after having successfully repulsed the distant fire raid, the escaping terrorists were pursued into the nearby mountains.
The ISPR statement further said, “on the eve of 75th Independence Day of Pakistan, the security forces, in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging Balochistan’s peace, stability and progress.”
Kargil War hero honoured
A wreath was laid at the mausoleum of Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed on Sunday to pay homage to the brave son of the soil at his native town, Ghizer, Gilgit-Baltistan. Lalak Jan had embraced martyrdom while defending Pakistan in 1999 during the Kargil War.
Major General Jawwad Ahmad, commander FCNA, laid a floral wreath at Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed’s mausoleum.
On the occasion, a contingent of the Pakistan Army presented the guard of honour. Various individuals from different walks of life, civil and military officials and relatives of martyrs attended the wreath-laying ceremony.
