Vawda Slams PTI After May 9 Sentences

Vawda Blames PTI Leaders After Court Sentences in May 9 Riots Case

Faisal Vawda has strongly criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders after many top members were sentenced in the May 9 riots case. Speaking to him, he said that some PTI leaders betrayed the party and its founder, Imran Khan, by “stabbing them in the back.”

He warned that those who harm the country will face consequences. Vawda also said he will reveal more details when he returns to Pakistan.

He questioned the inner workings of PTI and blamed leaders like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur for running a campaign against state institutions. Vawda also raised questions about why PTI got only five Senate seats instead of eight and promised to expose the truth behind Murad Saeed’s nomination as senator.

He accused PTI of trying to look like political victims while secretly working to destabilize the country.

His remarks came after an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Faisalabad gave 10-year prison sentences to several PTI leaders, including Omar Ayub, Zartaj Gul, and Shibli Faraz, for their roles in the May 9 riots.

The verdict, from two cases filed at Ghulam Muhammadabad and Civil Lines police stations (Case Nos. 1277 and 832), convicted 108 people and acquitted 77 others.

Some former PTI leaders, like Fawad Chaudhry, Zain Qureshi, and Khayal Kastro, were found not guilty. However, PTI MPA Junaid Afzal Sahi received a 3-year sentence. Sheikh Rashid Shafiq, nephew of Sheikh Rashid, and SIC leader Sahibzada Hamid Raza also got 10-year sentences.

Other PTI leaders sentenced include Rai Hassan Nawaz, Rai Murtaza Iqbal, Chaudhry Bilal Ijaz, Farrukh Agha, Farkhunda Kokab, Kanwal Shauzab, Mohammad Ahmad Chattha, Chaudhry Asif Ali, Shakeel Ahmad Khan Niazi, Sardar Azimullah Khan, Mehr Muhammad Javed, and Muhammad Ansar Iqbal.
