Waziristan Curfew After Attack

Curfew and Restrictions Imposed After Terrorist Attack in North Waziristan

On Monday, the Deputy Commissioner officially announced new restrictions to help maintain peace in the district.

As part of these restrictions:

Pillion riding (two people riding on a motorcycle) is banned.

Public gatherings of more than three people are not allowed.

Vehicles without proper customs documents are not allowed to enter the district.

Also, a day-long curfew was put in place on Monday from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. During this time:

People were not allowed to move around the area.

Main roads and all entry/exit routes were closed.

The purpose of the curfew is to help security forces move safely and do their work properly. Officials asked the public to follow the rules to help keep peace in the area.

Background: 13 Soldiers Martyred in Terrorist Attack

Earlier, 13 Pakistani soldiers lost their lives in a terrorist attack in North Waziristan, according to the military’s media wing, ISPR.

The attack was said to be planned by India and carried out by its supporters, called Fitna al Khwarij.

According to ISPR:

A suicide bomber in a car tried to attack a convoy of security forces.

The leading group of soldiers stopped the suicide bomber, but then another explosive-filled car crashed into their vehicle.

As a result, 13 soldiers were martyred, and three civilians—including two children and a woman—were badly injured.
