WCL 2025 Final: Shahid Afridi to Miss Big Match Against South Africa
BIRMINGHAM – The final of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 will be played today at 8:30 PM (PST) in Birmingham.
Before the important match, Pakistan Champions’ star all-rounder Shahid Afridi announced that he would not play in the final against South Africa.
Speaking at a press conference in Manchester, Afridi said his doctor has advised him to take a rest.
“The doctor has advised me to rest, so I won’t be playing the final,” he told reporters.
“My heart wanted to play, especially if that semi-final against India had happened.”
Pakistan Champions have had a strong tournament so far. They stayed unbeaten in the group stage and reached the final after the India Champions refused to play the semi-final.
The WCL confirmed the forfeit in a statement shared on their official Facebook page.
“At WCL, we have always believed in the power of sport to inspire and bring about positive change in the world,” the statement said.
“However, public sentiment must always be respected – after all, everything we do is for our audience.”
Fans were excited to see Afridi play in the final, but he has stepped back due to health reasons. The Pakistan Champions will now take on South Africa in a highly anticipated final without their star player.
