Rain-related occurrences in Balochistan resulted in seven deaths

According to authorities, the number of people killed in rain-related events in different districts of Balochistan on Monday night increased to seven.

In a news conference, Balochistani government spokesman Shahid Rind said that two people died in a home collapse event and five people died from lightning strikes.

The occurrences happened in Balochistan’s Sorab, Killa Saifullah, Killa Abdullah, and other areas. After much of Quetta flooded, the provincial administration issued an urban flooding emergency.

“An emergency has been declared, and all institutions are on high alert to address the situation,” Rind said to reporters at the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) headquarters.

He stated that Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti convened a meeting where the province declared an urban flood emergency.

In all of the areas impacted by the floods and rain on Tuesday, government and private schools in Balochistan remained closed on Monday.

Following a period of intense rainfall, the majority of schools in Gwadar, Pasni, and other parts of the province were inundated, preventing pupils from entering.

CM Bugti was equally incensed by the lack of top personnel in Quetta. Regarding this, the Quetta deputy commissioner received a letter from the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister expressing his unhappiness for his absence during the flood disaster.

Numerous mud-walled homes and buildings were destroyed by flash floods caused by heavy rains in various sections of the province. In rural Balochistan, tiny bridges and roads have also been destroyed by floods, forcing the suspension of traffic.

In order to address the problem, the administration has also canceled all of the government officers’ leaves and instructed them to make sure they are in their workplaces.
