Will Pucovski’s Early Retirement Injuries and Mental Health Challenges

According to the report, the youngster will call time on his budding career, in light of advice from the medical panel. He suffered strings of injuries throughout his career, mostly concussions due to blows on his head.

However, it was not just the concussions that led to Will Pucovski’s premature retirement but also, as per a medical panel in 2022, some of his head injuries were not “true concussions”, likely linked with stress or trauma.

Recently in March 2024, Will Pucovski was concussed and forced to retire hurt after being struck by Riley Meredith’s delivery in a Sheffield Shield match.

The injury ruled the right-handed batter out of the rest of the Australian domestic summer season and also forced him to take a step back from his contract with Leicestershire for the English summer of 2024.

Meanwhile, Will Pucovski also admitted that constant injuries took a toll on his mental health.

Pucovski rose to fame in 2019 when he received his maiden national call-up. He played his only Test against India India in 2021 and scored 62 and 10.

The injury-prone batter suffered a shoulder injury in his debut Test and was ruled out for six months.

Will Pucovski played 36 first-class matches and scored 2,350 runs at an average of 45.19 with the help of seven centuries and nine half-centuries including the best score of 255 not out.
