Asif Zardari to Visit China for High-Level Talks on Trade, CPEC, and Regional Cooperation
Islamabad – Former President Asif Ali Zardari is set to embark on an official visit to China, where he will meet with provincial leaders in Chengdu, Shanghai, and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, a spokesperson for the president confirmed.
During the visit, discussions will focus on strengthening Pakistan-China bilateral relations, with particular attention on economic and trade cooperation, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and future connectivity projects. Both sides will also exchange views on collaboration in multilateral forums.
The trip highlights the long-standing tradition of high-level exchanges between the two nations, reaffirming mutual support on core issues and underscoring their commitment to regional peace, stability, and economic development.
Earlier this week, Pakistan and China reaffirmed their determination to further strengthen their “iron-clad, all-weather” strategic partnership. This came during a meeting in Beijing between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
The leaders expressed satisfaction with the growing momentum in Pakistan-China relations. Prime Minister Sharif extended his gratitude to China for its unwavering support for Pakistan’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and socio-economic progress.
Paying tribute to China’s transformation under President Xi Jinping, Sharif noted Pakistan’s desire to emulate China’s achievements and build an even stronger Pakistan-China community with a shared future.
