This summer, “The Glassworker” will be shown in theaters around Pakistan
With the much awaited premiere of Mano Animation Studios’ hand-drawn animated feature picture The Glassworker this summer, Pakistan’s animation industry is poised for greatness. The nation’s first hand-drawn animation company, headed by renowned artist Usman Riaz, has reached an important milestone.
The glassworker will now be distributed in Pakistan by Mandviwalla Entertainment, the same company that just brought us the hit movie The Legend of Maula Jatt. This is an excellent development. Through this collaboration, the captivating story will be shown in Pakistani theaters, providing viewers with a singular cinematic experience.
International attention has already been drawn to The Glassworker, which will have a special showing at the famous Cannes Film Festival in 2023. Speaking with Instep, Usman conveyed his appreciation for the privilege of being chosen from a lineup that primarily consisted of live-action movies. The movie’s producers attended Cannes to represent the project, showing off behind-the-scenes video and enticing industry insiders with the film’s distinct appeal.
Usman Riaz told Variety in reflection on the film’s themes and inspiration that “The Glassworker is a glimpse into how we grew up in Pakistan.” It is evident in the fights, regional folklore, attire, cuisine, and colonial architecture of the characters.” The overarching idea presents an engrossing story that cuts across boundaries and encapsulates the spirit of the country’s legacy.
