Lucknow – A recent video of Bhojpuri actors Anjali Raghav and Pawan Singh promoting their new song Saiya Seva Kare in Lucknow has sparked widespread criticism online. The clip, which shows Singh allegedly touching Raghav’s bare waist on stage, left the singer visibly uncomfortable and drew strong reactions from social media users.
Until now, Raghav had remained silent about the incident. However, she has now broken her silence and announced that she is stepping away from the Bhojpuri entertainment industry.
In a series of videos shared on Instagram, Raghav said, “I have been very disturbed for the past two days. I am continuously receiving messages asking why I didn’t speak up, why I didn’t take action, why I didn’t slap him.”
She also addressed online criticism, adding, “Some people are even blaming me, saying things like, ‘She was laughing, she was enjoying it.’ Do you think I would feel happy or enjoy being touched like that in public?”
Raghav recounted that Singh told her something might be stuck on her waist, possibly a tag from her blouse. She ignored the comment at the time, focusing on her speech instead. “Later, when I asked my team if anything was stuck, they said there was nothing. That’s when I felt really bad – I was angry, and I even felt like crying. But I didn’t know what to do because everyone there was calling him God and acting like devotees,” she recalled.
She added that she had intended to confront Singh backstage, but he had already left the event. “I absolutely do not support touching any girl without her permission. It is very wrong, and to touch someone in this manner is extremely wrong,” Raghav stated, confirming her decision to quit the Bhojpuri industry.
Responding to Raghav’s statements, Pawan Singh issued a public apology on Sunday, acknowledging that he touched his co-actor without her consent and expressing regret for the incident.
