Top Army officials promise to give ECP the “requisite and necessary” support for polling
In a statement, the military announced that top military commanders decided on Thursday to give the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) the “requisite and necessary support” for the upcoming general elections, which are set for February 8, 2024.
The remark was made following the 261st Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC), which was chaired by General Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reports that the forum was informed on the current geostrategic environment, threats to national security, and the organization’s own reaction strategy.
The forum proclaimed that the full force of the state will be applied against all terrorists, as well as their enablers and supporters, who are acting on behalf of adversaries to destabilize the country.
The statement went on, “The availability of the newest weapons to the terrorists and their access to sanctuaries and freedom of action in a neighboring country, as well as the TTP and other groups that are prohibited, were noted as serious points of concern impacting Pakistan’s security.”
The forum reaffirmed the determination of the Pakistan Army to protect Pakistan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty from both direct and indirect threats.

According to the ISPR, it is gravely concerned about the Indian armed troops’ ongoing repression and despicable breaches of human rights in IIOJK.
The participants categorically denounced the Indian Army’s recent acts of kidnapping, torturing, and killing civilians. Such actions are grave crimes against humanity, and the courageous Kashmiris fighting for their legitimate right to self-determination cannot be deterred by them, the statement continued.
According to the statement, Pakistan would continue to provide its fellow Kashmiris with all political, moral, and diplomatic support in order to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with applicable UNSC resolutions and international law.
The forum reiterated the government’s appeal for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and a peaceful conclusion to the ongoing conflict, while also expressing full sympathy with the people of Palestine and denouncing the egregious abuses of human rights and war crimes occurring in Gaza.
It reaffirmed its support for continuous initiatives to encourage foreign investment and foster socioeconomic progress under the auspices of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).
Along with other unlawful economic activities, the conference reviewed comprehensively the current measures being taken against power theft, smuggling, money laundering, and the hoarding of necessities.
“The Pakistan Army will keep giving pertinent government agencies and law enforcement agencies all-out support to stop such crimes.”
The conference also honored the heroic sacrifices made by martyrs, such as members of the military forces, law enforcement personnel, and civilians who gave their lives to maintain security and peace in the nation.
The attendees also prayed for the martyrs, particularly the victims of the attack on DI Khan.
