Azma Bukhari Hits PPP Lauds Maryams Flood Relief
Azma Bukhari Slams PPP Over ‘Fake Philosophies,’ Backs Maryam Nawaz’s Flood Relief Efforts
LAHORE – Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has come down hard on the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), accusing its leaders of burdening allies with “fake philosophies and failed theories” at a time when Punjab is battling the worst floods in its history.
Speaking to reporters, Bukhari said the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, is focused on relief and rehabilitation work for flood-affected families. “Being coalition partners does not mean we must listen to your failed ideas. If you want to present philosophies, do so before Bilawal Bhutto and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah,” she told PPP leaders Manzoor Chaudhry and Hasan Murtaza.
The minister emphasized that Punjab is handling the disaster with its own resources. “Alhamdulillah, the Punjab government is providing every kind of assistance to flood victims without relying on anyone else,” she said, adding that Maryam Nawaz has directed all government machinery toward relief efforts.
In a swipe at PPP, Bukhari claimed Sindh had not suffered casualties or major financial losses in the current floods but was still pressuring the federal government for foreign aid. “PPP should worry about its own province. Even today, many 2022 flood victims in Sindh are still waiting for relief,” she remarked.
Separately, Bukhari also condemned the recent incident in which an egg was thrown at Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, calling it “unfortunate and inappropriate.” However, she noted that those who once cheered shoe attacks on others are now facing “poetic justice.” She clarified that no FIR has yet been filed regarding the incident.
Bukhari further criticized the misuse of development funds in Gujrat, alleging that despite receiving billions, the city still lacks a proper sewerage system.
