Balochistan Honor Killing: BHC Summons Top Officials, 11 Arrested Including Tribal Chief
QUETTA – The Balochistan High Court (BHC) Chief Justice has summoned the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) and the Inspector General of Police on July 22, seeking an explanation over the recent honor killing of a couple that shocked the nation.
The brutal killings, reportedly filmed during Eid al-Adha, surfaced in a disturbing video that went viral on social media. The footage shows armed men executing a woman and a man in a remote desert area of Balochistan in what is being described as a gruesome honor killing.
Following the circulation of the video, law enforcement swiftly launched a crackdown, arresting eleven individuals, including the chief of the Satakzai tribe, Sardar Sherbaz Satakzai. Authorities confirmed that the arrests were made after raiding the Satakzai House.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti confirmed the development on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “The state stands with the oppressed. We will ensure that all involved in this heinous act are brought to justice.”
However, the arrest of Sardar Sherbaz Satakzai has stirred backlash from the Sarawan tribal leadership, who condemned the move, calling it an unjustified action taken under the guise of justice.
The investigation is ongoing as the province reels from the shock of the double murder and mounting calls for accountability.
