Ahead of polls, twin explosions shake Kech and Panjgur in Balochistan

Tuesday’s two bombs rocked the Balochistani regions of Kech and Panjgur, raising worries about security as the country prepared for the approaching general elections.

Unidentified armed attackers targeted the NADRA office with a grenade strike in the Hoshop neighborhood of the Kech district.

There was a large explosion when the hand grenade went off inside the NADRA headquarters building. However, precise information about the magnitude of the damages has not yet been made public, levies sources told The Express Tribune over the phone.

Another incident in the Surdu neighborhood of Panjgur was a bomb attack at the home of renowned National Party official Abdul Qadeer Sajdi.

According to reports, the attack added a political element to the event as it occurred at an important meeting regarding the impending general elections.

These deliberate attacks draw attention to the precarious security conditions that exist in some parts of Balochistan, especially in the run-up to the elections on February 8.

It is expected that authorities will bolster security protocols in order to protect candidates, political events, and voting procedures.

The amount of small-scale bomb blasts in Balochistan that target candidates and election campaign offices has increased dramatically in recent times.

As in other regions of the nation, the provincial government has implemented foolproof security measures to prevent unwanted incidents on the eve of the rapidly approaching general elections in the province.

All around the province, the candidates’ security has also been strengthened.
