This month, Pakistanis will have access to Netflix's "Animal"

Pakistanis can now view Ranbir Kapoor’s contentious movie Animal on Netflix this month due to the country’s prohibition on Indian films, according to Hindustan Times. On January 26, the Sandeep Reddy Vanga-directed film will be available on the massive streaming service.

After just one month of sales, Animal has earned more than INR5.4 billion in India, surpassing Shah Rukh Khan’s debut film of 2023, Pathaan. Bollywood Hungama reports that the movie’s worldwide box office receipts had surpassed INR9 billion. With Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Ranbir Kapoor in key parts, the movie has garnered attention due to its questionable narrative.

However, renowned director Karan Johar has declared it to be the year’s best picture. “After I mentioned how much I loved Animal, some approached me and said, ‘You made Rocky Aur Rani.’ That’s the vaccination for a movie like Animal.'” That is the other extreme. According to Hindustan Times, Karan stated, “I said that I could not disagree with you more because Animal is the best film of the year.”

“Being among people makes you fear judgment, therefore it took me some time and a lot of bravery to make my statement. similar to when Kabir Singh was alive, which I also adored. He continued, “I thought, ‘I’m going to say something and I’m going to get bad glances from certain people, but I don’t care anymore.

The filmmaker went on to explain why he was so devoted to Animal. The reason I adored Animal so much was its bold, utterly conviction-driven narrative storytelling, which defied conventions regarding grammar, mythologies, and popular cinema in general. All of a sudden, there’s an interval block where everyone is singing a song while the hero is getting beat up. ‘Where have you seen a sequence like this?’ I ask. It’s very clever.”

He went on, “That song is played at the end when the two men are pursuing each other. Tears filled my eyes, but all I saw was blood. I thought there must be something wrong with him or with me, but overall, this movie gets a lot of things right. This isn’t your typical thinking mind. I was astounded by this person’s unique and independent thought process. I saw the movie twice: once as a viewer and once for academic purposes. Animal’s popularity and acceptance, in my opinion, are revolutionary. It is a conviction that I would like to possess.
