Bushra Bibi Faces Harsh Jail Conditions, Family Speaks Out
During a recent appearance on ’ Eleventh Hour, Maryam Riaz Wattoo, sister of Bushra Bibi, revealed that her family was finally allowed to meet Bushra after a month of repeated requests.
“The family had to wait outside the prison for hours before being allowed in,” Maryam said, highlighting the difficulties they faced just to see her sister.
Maryam described the prison conditions as severe and unlawful. She said Bushra Bibi is enduring a leaking ceiling, live electrical currents in her cell, rats roaming inside, and electricity cuts lasting up to two days.
“These conditions have left Bushra extremely weak, and she has lost nearly 15 kilograms,” Maryam added. “Despite this, her morale remains intact.”
Maryam also claimed that Bushra Bibi has been denied bail in several cases and has not been allowed to meet PTI founder Imran Khan.
Addressing recent political speculation, Maryam strongly denied any involvement of her sister in recommending Mashaal Yousafzai for a Senate seat.
“I am 100 percent certain that Bushra Bibi did not recommend Mashaal Yousafzai for any role. I don’t know who did,” she stated. She further added that Barrister Saif had presented a list to Imran Khan, but the details of what was communicated or approved remain unclear.
