Punjab declares that 50,000 homes would receive free solar kits
On Monday, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the chief minister of Punjab, approved the distribution of one-kilowatt solar systems to fifty thousand families in the province.
The chief minister (CM) was informed on the technical aspects of the solar system for household users while presiding over a special meeting in Lahore on the “Light without Electricity Bill, Chief Minister’s Roshan Punjab Programme.”
According to CM Maryam, the program’s goal is to provide affordable power to the underprivileged. After approving the grant for the solar systems, the CM gave the go-ahead to launch the pilot project right away in order to gauge its effectiveness.
In the first phase of the initiative, protected users who use up to 100 units of power would be eligible, she said. She advised that the buyer will receive two solar panels, a battery, an inverter, and wiring with the 1 KW system.
The chief minister was previously informed that a 1 KW solar system can power small motors, fans, lights, and other appliances. The lithium-ion battery has a charging backup capacity of up to 16 hours.
The newest technology solar system was installed under the direction of the CM. She emphasized the need of using the best solar plates, batteries, inverter, and other accessories available. She stated that solar systems will progressively become more accessible to residential users.
