Carrie Underwood Pays Tribute to Brett James After Fatal Plane Crash
Carrie Underwood Mourns Loss of Fellow Musician Brett James After Tragic Plane Crash
Country music star Carrie Underwood took to Instagram on Friday to express her heartbreak over the death of her friend and fellow musician Brett James. Sharing a series of photos with James, she wrote, “Some things are just unfathomable. The loss of Brett James to his family, friends, and our music community is too great to put into words.”
James was one of three people killed in a plane crash near Franklin, North Carolina, on Thursday, September 18. Remembering him fondly, Underwood called James “the epitome of ‘cool,’” recalling memories of him riding his motorcycle to their cabins, hair perfectly styled even under his helmet.
She added with a smile, “I always loved hearing him sing ‘Cowboy Casanova’ because a sassy girl anthem should’ve sounded ridiculous coming from a macho dude like him, but somehow, he made it work. Brett was a good guy.”
Underwood also highlighted James’ faith, writing, “Brett loved the Lord. Which is the only comfort we can hold on to now. Brett’s passing is leaving a hole in all of us that I fear won’t ever go away. It will forever be a reminder that this life is but a moment…we have to make the most of each day we’re given here on earth. Each day is a gift.”
She concluded by asking fans to keep James, his family, and friends in their thoughts and prayers.
