In a robbery case, two senior Karachi police officers were found not guilty
In a case involving an alleged robbery in Karachi’s Orangi Town, SSP Imran Qureshi, DSP Tariq Bajari, and other defendants were cleared on Wednesday by an extra district and sessions judge.
In accepting their petition of acquittal, the court cleared SSP Imran Qureshi, DSP Tariq Bajari, and the other accused.
The prosecution claimed that the defendants were not involved in the incident and did not name them as accountable during the hearing. Additionally, the prosecution did not offer any proof to the contrary.
On the plea of acquittal, the plaintiff submitted a no-objection. Attorney Amir Qureshi said that the plaintiff had requested in writing that the case and those involved not be prosecuted.
The accused has been the subject of a case filed at the Pirabad police station, according to the police. They were charged with stealing around Rs. 15 million from Shakirullah, a citizen.
In the interim trial in the case concerning the purported police robbery of a businessman in Orangi Town, the two officers were found not guilty earlier in December 2023.
No evidence was uncovered against SSP Imran Qureshi or the other accused parties in the case, according to the interim court.
