Poonam Pandey faces a slander action of INR1 billion as a result of her staged death
Unexpectedly, Mumbai resident Faizan Ansari filed an INR1 billion defamation case against model and actor Poonam Pandey and her partner, Sam Bombay (husband according to Hindustan Times, former husband according to Times of India).
The pair is accused in the complaint filed with the Kanpur Police Commissioner of planning a fake plot to kill Poonam and trying to minimize the gravity of major illnesses, especially cancer.
In addition to requesting monetary recompense, Faizan has pushed for Poonam and Sam to be taken into custody for their supposed roles in the fraudulent prank. According to the FIR, their activities were intended to make light of serious illnesses in order to gain personal fame.
“Poonam Pandey and her spouse Sameer Bombay have concocted an untrue murderous plot. In addition, they have turned illnesses like cancer into jokes. A portion of a FIR released by Times of India stated, “Poonam staged the drama for publicity and played with the emotions of millions of Indians and the Bollywood film industry.”
The strange event started on February 2 when Poonam announced her own death from cervical cancer in an Instagram post. In the post, seclusion was sought while the person was grieving. But as it turned out, the reveal was a terrible deception, and the audience was incensed by the ploy’s insensitivity. Poonam declared in an Instagram video that she was still alive when she reappeared a day later. Cervical cancer did not claim my life. Regretfully, I am unable to make that statement on the countless numbers of women who have lost their lives to cervical cancer.”
Many people found the decision to be extremely improper and unacceptable, and the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) was among those who condemned it. Poonam’s acts were condemned by the AICWA as “highly wrong” and “unacceptable.” The film organization has demanded that a FIR be filed against Poonam and her manager, highlighting the necessity of legal action to address the seriousness of the matter.
The public and the entertainment industry are watching this confusing case closely as it develops, as it raises ethical concerns about the limits of attention-seeking in the era of social media.
