Chief of Army Staff Munir holds talks with Saudi counterpart on matters of mutual security

COAS Munir meets Saudi counterpart

COAS General Asim Munir had a meeting with Saudi Army Chief General Fayyadh Bin Hamed Al Ruwaili on Friday, where they engaged in discussions regarding a range of topics of shared interest. According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Ruwaili and his high-level military delegation paid a visit to General Munir. The ISPR statement noted that during the meeting, both sides exchanged views on various areas of mutual concern, as well as bilateral cooperation encompassing defense and security matters. Additionally, the delegation also met with Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza at the Joint Staff Headquarters earlier in the day.

The Saudi delegation’s trip to Pakistan occurred shortly after COAS Munir had informed Saudi Arabia’s business community about Saudi Arabia’s commitment to invest $25 billion in Pakistan. This investment is part of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) initiative, which is designed to attract investment in the agriculture sector through land offerings and export facilitation.

Earlier in the year, General Munir had also visited Madina, where he held discussions with the Saudi crown prince aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

During the visit, General Munir had meetings with Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, where they explored avenues to enhance cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The discussions encompassed matters related to military and defense collaboration, as well as the means to bolster and extend this cooperation. Additionally, they touched upon significant regional and global issues of mutual concern.
