Chris Martin References Infamous Coldplay Kiss-Cam Moment at Wembley Show
London – Coldplay fans at Wembley Stadium got more than just a spectacular performance over the weekend. During Friday’s show, lead singer Chris Martin cheekily brought up a scandal that first made headlines during the band’s July 16 concert at Boston’s Gillette Stadium.
The controversy involved New York-based DataOps company Astronomer’s then-CEO Andy Byron and Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot, who were caught in a surprisingly intimate moment on the stadium’s kiss-cam, sparking social media frenzy. Both have since resigned from their positions.
During the London concert, Martin spotted a fan holding up a sign indicating he wanted to propose to his partner on stage. Martin, with his signature wit, joked, “OK, now listen, my brother, I need you to nod as I do some basic security checks, OK?”
The singer continued, playfully echoing the Boston incident: “Is this person your partner? Yes? No one else’s partner? OK.” The crowd erupted in laughter at the reference.
He didn’t stop there, adding, “Are you cousins or siblings or anything weird like that? … Are you AI? Are you real people? OK, then I think we can continue.”
The flashback to the July scandal was unmistakable. At that time, Byron quickly ducked behind a barrier after realizing the kiss-cam had captured him and Cabot, while a visibly embarrassed Cabot covered her face with her hands.
Martin’s humorous nod to the moment reminded fans that some celebrity scandals, even unexpected ones, can become part of pop culture lore—especially when Coldplay is involved.
