Clayface Batman Horror Movie Starts Filming with Max Minghella

New Horror-Driven Batman Villain Movie ‘Clayface’ Begins Filming This Autumn

A fresh and chilling take on the Batman villain Clayface is on its way, with filming set to begin this autumn in the UK. Directed by James Watkins, the upcoming movie promises a unique blend of horror and superhero elements, focusing on the disturbing transformation of an ambitious actor whose face is disfigured by a gangster.

Max Minghella, known for his Emmy-nominated role in The Handmaid’s Tale and recent work on HBO’s Industry, will appear as a Gotham City detective romantically linked to the film’s fringe scientist character. Minghella’s role marks his first major appearance in the DC Universe and is expected to attract attention from both DC fans and horror enthusiasts alike.

Joining Minghella is Welsh actor Tom Rhys Harries, who will play the lead role of Clayface. Harries, known for his performances in Suspicion, Kandahar, and The Gentlemen, was selected from a competitive pool of British talent that included Jack O’Connell and George MacKay. This casting is a major milestone in Harry’s career as he takes center stage in one of DC’s most intriguing new stories.

The film, produced under the watchful eyes of DC Studios’ James Gunn and Peter Safran, will explore the journey of the actor as he seeks help from a mysterious scientist, ultimately leading to a body-horror transformation reminiscent of classic films like The Fly.

Made with a mid-$40 million budget, Clayface is slated for release on September 11, 2026, promising a dark and gripping addition to the DC Universe.
