CNG stations in Punjab reopen after 37 days
The gas supply has been suspended to the filling stations in Punjab and Pothohar region for the last 37 days.
According to a spokesperson,
“The gas we are receiving in the system is insufficient to meet the demand for households and the commercial sector.”
CNG stations closed to primarily meet the household demand, according to SSGC. On the other hand, the gas supply for industries through generator connections is reduced by 50%. Residents across Pakistan have complained of the gas shortage and low pressures ever since the winter season commenced.
On 23rd Jan 2021, the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), all CNG stations will reopen in Islamabad and Punjab on Sunday for 24 hours.

In addition, CNG stations will cut off again at 6:00 pm today. Long queues of vehicles are lining outside the CNG stations; in the metropolis Sunday morning as gas stations reopened after nearly a week.
According to a spokesperson of the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), CNG stations will remain open across Sindh for 24 hours from 8:00am Sunday.
Due to these closures, many businesses have also been affected. The association’s Chairman Ghiyas Paracha says that Compressed Natural Gas station owners suffered huge losses due to the closure of filling stations during winter. He expressed hope that from next winter season the Compressed Natural Gas sector would be able to import its own LNG.
