Shabnim Ismail of South Africa becomes the first female cricket player to bowl at 130 kmph

South African bowler Shabnim Ismail, the only Muslim woman to play for her nation in international cricket, made history lately when she delivered the fastest ball ever by a female cricket player. Shabnim made news when she bowled at an incredible 130 kilometers per hour (kmph) during a Women’s Premier League match between the Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, which was held in Bengaluru and Delhi, India.

At the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi, Shabnim, a player for the Mumbai Indians, struck a quick second ball in the third over at a whopping 132.1 kmph. She smashed the pads of Australian captain Meg Lanning with a ball that was historic for women’s cricket.

Shabnim had previously bowled at speeds of 128 kmph against the West Indies in 2016 and again during the ICC Women’s World Cup; this incredible accomplishment adds to her legacy. Shabnim’s achievement, which came after her involvement in the T20 World Cup last year, shows her ongoing skill on the cricket field at the age of 35.
