Dani Vázquez Joins Rhineland Club After Farewell to Real Madrid
Renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Dani Vázquez has reached an agreement with a Rhineland club, with the Spanish midfielder expected to sign his contract today (Tuesday).
Vázquez has already completed his medical, and Spanish journalist Miguel Ángel Díaz reported that the 34-year-old will sign a two-year deal.
The veteran’s contract with Real Madrid expired this summer after an impressive 2024/25 season, where he featured in 32 La Liga matches, contributing a goal and five assists. His departure marks the end of an illustrious chapter with Los Blancos, during which he collected an astonishing 23 trophies, including five Champions League titles, four La Liga crowns, three FIFA Club World Cups, and a Copa del Rey.
At his new club, Vázquez is expected to take charge of the right wing-back role in Erik ten Hag’s 3-4-2-1 formation.
In a heartfelt farewell message, Vázquez reflected on his time at Madrid:
“We’ve lived unforgettable nights together, celebrated 23 titles, and created memories that will stay with me forever. After more than 400 matches, it’s time to say goodbye to the club of my life. I leave with peace of mind knowing I gave it my all. I’ve always been aware of the responsibility and privilege that comes with wearing this badge.”

I may be leaving Real Madrid, but Real Madrid will never leave me. Wherever I go, I will proudly say that I had the honour of playing for the greatest club in the world. Vázquez has spent nearly his entire career with Real Madrid, aside from a season-long loan to Espanyol in 2014-15, cementing his legacy as one of the club’s most loyal and decorated players.
