Pakistan Closed Airspace in Response to India After Pahalgam Attack: Dar

KUALA LUMPUR – Former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, while addressing the Pakistani community in Malaysia’s capital, revealed that Pakistan had responded decisively to India following the Pahalgam incident by suspending airspace access and countering Indian diplomatic moves.

Dar stated that India’s attempts to control the international narrative failed. “Their propaganda didn’t work. Instead of escalating tensions through rhetoric, we opted for economic diplomacy,” he said.

Rejecting claims of diplomatic isolation, Dar stressed that Pakistan has been at the forefront of fighting terrorism. “We effectively exposed Indian misinformation globally, just as we did during the Pulwama episode,” he added.

Airspace Breach Prevented, Six Indian Jets Downed

Referring to a key event on May 6, 2025, Dar claimed Indian fighter jets attempted to enter Pakistani airspace but were met with calculated restraint. “Pakistani pilots were under strict instructions: do not engage unless borders are breached and avoid civilian targets,” he noted.

He added, “That night, Pakistan shot down six Indian aircraft. The world witnessed our defense capabilities.”

Prepared for Any Scenario

Ishaq Dar emphasized that Pakistan remains ready to counter any aggression. “India can say what it wants, but we are fully prepared,” he warned.

Pakistan’s Role in Iran-Israel Tensions

Dar also disclosed Islamabad’s quiet diplomatic efforts during the Iran-Israel conflict. “We fulfilled our behind-the-scenes responsibilities. I was in constant contact with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi,” he revealed.
