Dele Alli Leaves Como
Dele Alli and Como Part Ways After Short Stint
Italian Serie A club Como and English midfielder Dele Alli have mutually agreed to terminate the player’s contract, ending a brief and challenging spell at the club.
The 29-year-old had signed an 18-month deal with Como in January, after a month of training with the team. However, he was not included in coach Cesc Fabregas’ first-team plans, prompting both sides to part ways ahead of the transfer window deadline.
In a joint statement, Como and Alli said:
“Dele is keen to secure regular playing opportunities, and as he was not part of the club’s immediate plans, both parties felt it was best to part ways. The club thanks Dele for his time at Como and wishes him the very best for the future.”
Alli’s time at Como got off to a rocky start. He was sent off less than 10 minutes after coming on as a substitute during his debut in a 2-1 defeat to AC Milan at San Siro in March. Since then, he has struggled for game time at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.
The midfielder, who left Tottenham Hotspur for Everton in January 2022, made only 13 appearances for the Toffees before being loaned to Turkish side Besiktas. His career in recent years has been plagued by injuries, including a hip problem in Turkey and a groin issue upon his return to Everton during the 2023-24 season.
Now a free agent, Alli can begin the search for a new club, with opportunities available even outside the transfer window.
