‘The Gentlemen’ clinches first spot from ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’
Avatar: The Last Airbender dropped to number two as The Gentlemen took the top place on the weekly Netflix top English language TV charts for the week of March 4–10.
Guy Ritchie’s criminal thriller series, which is based on the 2020 film of the same name, debuted on the video streaming site on March 7 and has already racked up an estimated 12.2 million views in only three days, according to Variety.
The highly anticipated live-action version of the critically renowned Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender, which had held the top spot the previous week, was pushed back by the noteworthy figures.
Now in its third week of distribution, the series, which has been extended for two more seasons, has dropped to number two on the Top 10 chart with a total of 9.1 million views.
This represented a sharp decline of 54% from its performance the previous week, which had 19.9 million views.
The Hollywood Reporter previously reported that the show, which centers on Aang’s journey, had been renewed for two and three seasons concurrently following its eight-episode first season.
Although Netflix has previously given two-season renewals for series like Emily in Paris and Stranger Things, the publication pointed out that this may be the first time a program has received two consecutive renewals to conclude its run, since the streamer confirmed the next two seasons will be the final ones.
