Etzaz Hussain Cleared to Play for Pakistan National Team

In a major boost for Pakistan football, Etzaz Hussain has officially been cleared by FIFA to represent the Pakistan national team. Football Pakistan confirmed the news on social media, highlighting the Odds BK midfielder’s switch from Norway to Pakistan. Hussain, 32, is a four-time Norwegian league champion with Molde FK.

The midfielder is expected to make his debut for the Green Shirts this October when Pakistan takes on Afghanistan at Islamabad’s Jinnah Stadium.

For years, Hussain has been linked with Pakistan, often touted as a player who could transform the national team’s midfield. He brings extensive European experience, having represented Norway at multiple youth levels, including U17, U18, U19, U21, and U23, though he never earned a senior cap. His European football background gives him a level of expertise rarely seen in the Pakistan setup.

Last year, Hussain nearly made his Pakistan debut, but a reported dispute with then-coach Stephen Constantine delayed his arrival. Now, under a new coach actively scouting diaspora talent, Hussain is ready to bring his skills to the international stage.

Fans have long awaited this moment, and with FIFA’s approval, Pakistan finally has one of its most decorated footballers available for selection.
