FIFA Unveils Trionda, Official Ball for 2026 World Cup

NEW YORK — FIFA has unveiled the official ball for the 2026 World Cup, named Trionda, at a special event in New York on Thursday. The ball, crafted by German sports giant Adidas, continues the company’s long-standing tradition of providing World Cup balls since 1970.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino expressed his pride at the launch, saying, “I am delighted and proud to present the Trionda.”

The 2026 World Cup will be the first to be hosted by three countries—Canada, Mexico, and the United States—and the ball’s name and design reflect this historic collaboration. Its red, blue, and green panels carry symbols from each host nation: maple leaves for Canada, an eagle for Mexico, and stars for the United States. A triangular pattern represents the unity of the three countries.

Beyond its visual appeal, Trionda incorporates advanced technology. Deep seams improve in-flight stability, embossed icons enhance grip in wet conditions, and a built-in motion sensor will transmit real-time data to the video assistant referee (VAR) system.

The ball launch is one of the many milestones leading up to the North American World Cup, scheduled from June 11 to July 19 next year.

In other tournament news, FIFA has opened phased online ticket sales, with over 4.5 million fans from 216 countries entering the presale draw. The official tournament draw will take place in Washington, D.C., on December 5.
