Petrol and Kerosene Prices Go Up in Pakistan
Petrol and Kerosene Prices Increased as New Taxes Apply
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has confirmed a rise in fuel prices through a new notification.
Kerosene Price Increased
According to OGRA, the price of kerosene oil has gone up by Rs 15.23 per litre. The new price is Rs184.43, up from Rs169.20.
Petrol and Diesel Prices Also Raised
The petrol price has increased by Rs14.80 per litre, reaching Rs266.89.
The price of high-speed diesel is now Rs272.98 after a Rs10.39 hike.
Climate Support Levy Introduced
With the start of the new financial year 2025–26, the government has added a new tax on petroleum products. This tax is called the Climate Support Levy, added due to the IMF’s (International Monetary Fund) conditions for climate support funding.
This new levy of Rs 2.50 per litre is applied to petrol, diesel, and kerosene. It has been adjusted by reducing the previous Petroleum Development Levy (PDL).
Kerosene now includes Rs2.50 Climate Support Levy along with Rs18.95 PDL.
Light diesel continues to carry a PDL of Rs 15.37 per litre.
These changes are part of Pakistan’s financial and environmental commitments under its agreement with the IMF.
