Gandapurs 2016 Arms and Liquor Case Arrest Warrants Cancelled
Court Cancels Arrest Warrants for CM Ali Amin Gandapur in 2016 Case
ISLAMABAD – A local court has cancelled the arrest warrants of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in a case from 2016 involving liquor and weapons.
The hearing was led by Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chishti. The court also withdrew the show-cause notice that had been issued to Gandapur’s guarantor.
The case began in October 2016 when police claimed they recovered weapons and a bottle of liquor from a car linked to Gandapur near Bani Gala. According to police, the car was stopped at a check post on Rukhsana Bangash Road while Gandapur was on his way to visit Imran Khan.
Officers said they found four Kalashnikovs, bullets, a tear gas gun, and bulletproof vests in the vehicle. The items were displayed at the Bara Kahu police station in Islamabad.
However, Gandapur has always denied the claims. He said the bottle had honey in it, not alcohol, and all the weapons were licensed.
Earlier, the court had issued arrest warrants after Gandapur failed to attend several hearings. His request to skip the appearance was rejected, and the court showed disappointment over his repeated absences.
With the latest decision, the court has now cancelled the arrest orders, giving relief to the PTI leader in the long-standing case.
