Glasnow Leads Dodgers Past Rockies

Glasnow Leads Dodgers Past Rockies

Glasnow Dominates as Dodgers Edge Rockies in Pitching Duel

Tyler Glasnow delivered a masterful performance on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven strong innings while allowing just one run, as the Dodgers held off the Colorado Rockies. Blake Treinen followed with a flawless eighth inning, and Tanner Scott closed the door in the ninth despite a leadoff double by Ryan Ritter, earning his 21st save of the season.

The Dodgers’ offense, which had struggled earlier, finally found life in the sixth inning when Freddie Freeman hit a game-tying double. Mookie Betts then delivered a go-ahead two-run single in the seventh off Rockies pitcher Angel Chivilli, giving Los Angeles the edge.

Glasnow’s outing wasn’t without drama. He allowed a run in the second inning after a walk to Jordan Beck, a stolen base, and consecutive fly balls from Ezequiel Tovar and Kyle Farmer. Despite that, he managed to keep the Rockies largely in check, throwing 105 pitches with 11 strikeouts and two walks.

The Rockies also faced setbacks off the field. First baseman Warming Bernabel left in the second inning after a head injury while chasing a foul ball into the stands. Rockies starter Chase Dollander exited in the sixth with an undisclosed issue after giving up a run on one hit and two walks across five innings.

The Dodgers had little offense early, not recording a hit against Dollander until Michael Conforto singled in the fifth. But back-to-back walks to Ben Rortvedt and Shohei Ohtani set the stage for Freeman’s RBI double to tie the game.

Los Angeles had only confirmed Glasnow as the starter on Monday; he had been scheduled to pitch Friday in Baltimore but was scratched due to a sore back. The win keeps the Dodgers atop the National League West by one game over the San Diego Padres, despite losing five of six games on a road trip to Pittsburgh and Baltimore.

Glasnow’s strong performance continues a season without a no-hitter in Major League Baseball. The last Dodgers no-hitter came on May 4, 2018, when Walker Buehler, Tony Cingrani, Yimi Garcia, and Adam Liberatore combined for a 4-0 win over the San Diego Padres in Monterrey, Mexico. Meanwhile, the Rockies haven’t been held hitless since Clayton Kershaw’s no-hitter against them on June 18, 2014.
